Your Neighborhood Net (YNN) no longer exists and this site is maintained for historical purposes only. YNN was one of the earliest providers of Wireless Internet access in the USA to homes, if not the first in it's region. YNN was able to provide pretty good quality high speed Internet that could compete with the largest phone company, cable company, and DSL Internet services. It was able to do it at a lower price, and it was more reliable as it had built-in source redundancy and network failover. YNN established a network in the city of Santa Clara in the years of 2004 and 2005 and possibly earlier, and had plans in place for the city of South Lake Tahoe and considerations for small part of San Francisco city.

Your Neighborhood Net was part of AstraGate, Inc., or a separate brand of AstraGate, Inc., which is also closed. The services of YNN and AstraGate, Inc. were operated by Arash Ahmadi, a past Santa Clara, CA resident and an engineer of Silicon Valley area of California, and his team of people.

YNN utilized various WiFi technologies to implement the wireless networks. Usage and methods that others had not done. The Internet access, websites, email service, filtering, parental controls, and many other features were given for free and only a small membership fee to access the wireless network was charged. Customers purchased the needed hardware from YNN, and AstraGate, Inc. and installations were done by Arash and his people. Customer satisfaction was very high.

Arash had also discussed as early as 1997 about wireless access for the purpose of reading electrical, water, and gas meters with some Santa Clara city municipal personnel because he had already privately designed electronic circuits to accomplish most of this.

Your Neighborhood Net is a grass roots organization/program that was established by neighbors who were tired of getting bad service, poor quality, slow Internet speeds for high, high prices. Who Can And Cannot Be A Member

If Your Neighborhood Net coverage exists in your neighborhood, then you can become a member and make use of all the services accessed through the wireless network (this includes 1Mega bits per second speed to the Internet), unless the following applies to you.

You CANNOT be a member if you;

1. work for, or consult to, or provide survey information to, or provide market information to a cable company, or to an Internet Service Company, or to a Telecommunications company, or to a Hosting company that is not part of Your Neighborhood Net. Exceptions can be provided only by Your Neighborhood Net and AstraGate, Inc. If you misrepresent yourself to become a member, there will be a large fine as indicated on the Agreements Page.

2. have any bad faith intentions that is other than good faith access to the wireless network.
